Conservative women must be heard! NeW wants YOU to expose campus culture
in our first Essay Contest. Entrants must be a currently enrolled woman
in an undergraduate institution in the United States, age 18 or older.
During the 2014 college commencement season, two distinguished women were slated as commencement speakers, but later withdrew after protests from leftist student groups. Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, and IMP Chief Christine Lagarde withdrew their appearances at Rutgers University and Smith College, respectively. In 1,000 words or less, reflect on:
1. How this relates to fostering free thought and diversity of opinion on college campuses
2. Whether these events demonstrate a common occurrence on college campuses of disqualifying individuals with a “conservative” view on one issue from dialogue on all issues.
3. How this relates to your experience as a women on campus.
